Pewter Care and Storage
To clean pewter, wash it with a mild dish washing soap in warm water, then dry it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh detergents and never place your pewter items in the dishwasher.

For the easiest maintenance of your pewter items, continually remove tarnish when it first becomes visible. Use polishes formulated specifically to remove pewter tarnish. Do not use silver or brass polish, unless it states that is especially formulated for use on pewter as well. Pewter polish can be found at most hardware stores or specialty craft stores.

The sharp edges of other metal items and even creases in tissue paper can cause fine scratches in pewter, so when storing your pewter, always store it in its original box and wrapping.
